This directory contains files which may be useful to people who are
installing PPR.

It may be helpful to install one or more of the following packages
before installing PPR:
gdbm-1.7.3.tar.gz GNU DBM library, needed to build PPR with
charge account features.
perl5.005_03.tar.gz Some non-essential parts of PPR require Perl.
MD5-1.7.tar.gz Perl 5 module to compute MD5 message digests. You
must have Perl 5 with this module installed if you
are going to use PPR's experimental WWW interface.

The following programs are also generally available but are provided
here because PPR can use them as filters to convert files to PostScript:
plot2ps-0.9.tar.gz Useful as a PPR input filter.
plot2ps.patch Jan Kohnert's patch for compiling on modern OS's
netpbm-1mar1994.tar.gz Useful as PPR input filter components. Most of the
important ones are already installed in many Linux
distributions.

This patch, for Linux kernel 2.0.25, is required to print to Extended
Systems Pocket Print Servers. The patch program has applied this patch
sucessfully to the 2.0.29 and 2.0.30 kernels as well.

The following programs may be of use to people working with PostScript
files or fonts:
t1-1.1.tar.gz A set of utilities for converting PostScript Type 1
fonts between different file formats such as
PFA and PFB.
